A) What accessories do you wear everyday?
I wear my hearing aids on a fairly regular basis. If I'm going out I often carry my mobile phone, and my CamelBak backpack so that I'll have important things like water, a sewing project, my wallet, spare hearing aid batteries, hand-lotion, etc. with me.
B) What is your beauty routine?
Maintain a positive attitude/outlook on life. Smile often. Refrain from gossip. Stay out of the direct sunlight as a general rule (wear hats, hoods, or veils to carry shade with me as needed). Get plenty of exercise; do more than 20 minutes of yoga every day. Eat a healthy diet in moderate quantities; eat fresh vegetables, fruit and a variety of grains, nuts & seeds; whenever possible, eat only home-made items; avoid processed and commercially manufactured "foods". Shower regularly. Keep hair long and tangle-free.
Must be working, people still flirt with me, and friends *often* reply something like "holy shit, you can't be that old!" when they learn my age.
C) What was the last item of clothing (for yourself) that you purchased?
The knit navy-blue wool dress that I converted over the course of a couple of months into a really comfortable button-up over-layer.
D) Do you use a dresser, closet, or both?
This particular house has a built-in with both hanging space, shelf space and drawers. Socks and undies in the drawers. Trousers and shorts on the shelves, and shirts, skirts, and garb on the hangers.
E) What type of earrings are in your ears right now?
I haven't worn earrings since 1991.
F) What type of figure do you have (measurements)?
Slender, small waist, larger hips, sturdy thighs, tiny ribs. I can't be bothered going to get a tape measure at the moment, but I know that the numbers won't be the same as they have been in the past, as I had to take in my new skirt on Wednesday, because it was falling off my hips, and I have noticed that I need to go bra shopping as the ones which used to fit have gotten loose.
G) Do you wear glasses?
I wear sunglasses when it is bright out. But I haven't needed corrective lenses since I had my eyes fixed a decade ago. This is still a fact that makes me smile--before the LASIK my eyes were so bad that if I read without glasses/contacts I'd get ink on my nose.
H) What type of handbag do you carry?
See A) above.
I) What is your ideal style?
SCA: Early period through 12th Century. Modern: Long, full ankle length skirts
with a comfortable shirt.
J) What is your favorite brand of jeans?
While I do own *one* pair of jeans, I have no idea what the brand is. Heck, I probably can't even look it up--when I bought them I had to take them in at the small of the back to make them fit, so the tags which had been there are long gone. (Remember the part about sturdy thighs? For some reason manufacturers think that if your thighs are as large as mine your waist should be large too. For many decades I couldn't find jeans that would fit--if they got over my thighs they were miles to big at the waist--only the change in fashion which dropped the waist-line of the jeans to the hips made it possible to find a pair which needed only three or four inches taken out of the small of the back to make it fit.)
K) Do you wear knee-hi stockings?
I wear knee-high wool socks when hiking. I prefer ankle length cotton socks to wear most of the time. However, Tasmanian house being so cold (they haven't invented central heating yet) I tend to wear sheepskin slippers and wool leg warmers around the house.
L) Do you *have* to wear matching lingerie?
Somehow I doubt that my cotton underwear counts as "lingerie". However, since I tend to only buy black panties and bras, I suppose they could count as "matching"
M) Do you wear makeup?
A couple of times in my life, when performing on stage, I have permitted someone else to put that ugly, icky-feeling, dreadful stuff onto me, and then scrubbed it off the second I was done with the performance. I do not grok why anyone would ever use it in a non-stage setting. *Everyone* I have ever seen wear it looks better with their face washed clean, and who'd want to kiss someone wearing something on their face that tastes so gross? It is also dreadful for your skin. Everyone I know who uses it looks older than those of us who are the same age who don't.
N) Do you wear nightgowns?
I did when I was young. These days I sleep nude most of the time, and wearing a tunic if crashing in a living room with a bunch of other folks when I've travelled for a non-camping event weekend.
O) What outerwear do you put on when going out on a typical winter's day?
A wool jacket +/- a silk scarf tied over my head to keep the wind out of my hearing aids +/- a felt hat. My birkenstock sandals with wool socks are good enough on the feet for the places I've lived the past eight years. When I was in Oertha it was a down coat which hung to my knees and either felt-lined boots (Fairbanks) or lighter weight leather boots with fussy lining (Anchorage) +/- mittens +/- snow pants +/- face mask +/- goggles, depending on how severe the weather and how long I'll be in it.
P) What is your favorite perfume?
Can't stand the stuff, wish no one ever wore it. However, my hand lotion does have a vanilla sent. I don't mind smelling like a cookie.
Q) Is your motto "quality over quantity" when it comes to clothing and accessories?
I would rather wear good quality linen, wool, or silk, all hand-stitched please. However, most of my modern clothes are gifts from my family, and are store-bought cotton.
R) Do you wear rain boots?
I wear rubber boots in extreme wet situations, but that only comes up about once every other year.
S) Do you wear socks or slippers when your feet get cold?
yup. Socks used to be enough, but they don't heat houses in Tasmania, so here I wear sheepskin slippers.
T) Do you have a set of travel luggage?
I have a favourite piece of wheeled carry-on luggage. We've got a few other odds and ends whcih are checkable, but the collection probably doesn't meet the definition of "set" the author of this quiz had in mind.
U) What is your daily uniform?
Long, full, ankle length skirt, with a comfortable shirt.
V) If you are married, did you wear a veil with your wedding dress? If not, how did you do your hair?
I had a veil on for the SCA wedding event
because it is an appropriate part of the costume, and not because we were repeating our vows in a public forum. The legal ceremony
was in modern clothes.
W) Do you wear a watch?
Not since I moved to California in 2000--the sun there meant that I'd get a tan-line if I wore one there, since it was too hot for long-sleeves. Before that I wore a calculator wrist-watch. But in these days of mobile phones, there is no longer a need to have a watch, the phone will do everything the watch can do and more.
X) What item of clothing always makes you feel beautiful?
My SCA costumes, particularly the 12th century outfit, though part of that is the braid-extensions--long hair is beautiful, even if only part of it is real.
Y) What is your favourite type of yarn?
Wool! (specifically navy blue)
Z) Do you prefer zippers or buttons?
Neither--that is the part which wears out and requires mending soonest on any item of clothing. Much better to wear things which don't need them, they last longer.
